Nostalgia
Watching summers field mice, disappear in mist
Rewatching our first kiss.
I long for warm air on my cheeks.
Seeking my future, Missing intimacy;
Could you be looking for me? In Michigan’s landscape.
Do her hips remind you of mine? What a tease,
I want to run into you, Just to see what you would do.
Would you open your arms and hold me, while I lay my head on your legs
Just like you used to;
If you’d see me for who I am, Not who you wished I was
Or would you pass without a glance.
What is your favorite memory of me?
Naked – my head tucked deep in your chest; Nostalgia only thinks of the best.
Romanticizing my pain to feel a little sane,
I don’t sleep well these days.
Will we meet again? As strangers in the passing lane?
I gave you a lifetime; My hair will grow to my knees and turn grey,
Watching field mice every summer day.
But I’ll think of you still;
Where you are, who you turned out to be,
And I’ll wonder if you’ll think the same about me.
