Transit
You can borrow my heart,
And I’ll borrow your time.
It wouldn’t be the first time, after all.
I hope it’s not the last.
Every day passes,
Futilely.
Doesn’t anything last? Perhaps not.
The beauty in this life I suppose is that
It’s costly.
The only thing we’re born with,
The only thing we can’t buy;
Time. With you is spent well in my eyes.
Sometimes I wake up feeling lost,
It makes me want to cry.
Transit - Retrograde
After all I’m 29.
Coming back to myself, the lesson lies within,
The cost of time away from the heart I left behind.
Will I change this time? Would you want me to?
Sometimes I wish I could. But never when I’m with you.
With you I felt somewhat understood,
I never thought I could —
So as much as it costs me.
My heart is yours to hold as closely, as you’d like.
It will kill me surely, and hopefully slowly,
Or before the end of the night.
Time I have with you is holy.
How it should be.
It just felt right.
So when I’m gone and you look at your hands,
Holding the heart that held me;
Time restarts.
